Brian Hann

Bio

I bring a philosophy to learning that encompasses the individual. Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses, and I believe in nurturing those strengths and developing programs that meet the needs and goals of each student that I encounter. My background in golf comes from the Rocky Mountains where, as a teen, I captured the 1985 Banff Springs Club Championship. That victory was spawned from a pure love of the game, and led to even more interest in golf as a profession. Schooling and workshops followed fast and furious, as I joined the Canadian PGA as an apprentice at Victoria Golf Club. Having developed a knowledge base for teaching at Victoria Golf Club and Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club in Vancouver, I further prepared for the lesson tee at Jack McLaughlin’s Golf School for Golf Professionals. In the spring of 1988 I began my career as a teacher at Victoria Golf Club. I took the responsibility seriously, and still do. Many of the programs that I have had a hand in developing at Cordova Bay Golf Course have been unique in their approach, with an emphasis on learning to play the game, not just learning the mechanics of a golf swing. The golf clubs that one swings are the tools for the game. Golf is a target game, where a degree or two can make the difference between a bulls eye and a complete miss. Since the golf club in your hand will affect the swing motion, it is vital to have your clubs assessed and fitted by a qualified golf professional trained in clubfitting.
