Teaching Philosophy

My goal is to help each student increase their enjoyment of the game of golf by learning to play to the best of their ability. First, I try to understand the student’s strengths and weaknesses by either watching the student play golf or watching them practice. Then I design a program so the student will have a clear understanding of what their strengths and weaknesses are and – just as important – exactly how to make necessary adjustments. The student will know exactly what to do and how to do it so they will gain ownership of their best game. As an HG Master Clubfitter, and Certified Dynamic Balance Instructor, I believe that a proper swing must be built from a solid, balanced foundation. By using the motion analysis platform during the swing analysis, I can evaluate the student’s swing motion and equipment and make the necessary adjustments. I believe that clubfitting and correct balance are inseparable. In order for the student to achieve their potential they must have clubs that encourage correct positions and motions that reward them with optimum results. Correct specifications for the equipment can only be determined from full-length ball flight evaluation, with the corresponding swing and balance motion taken into consideration. The only people truly qualified to evaluate your swing and the effectiveness of the equipment are certified PGA instructors who understand how equipment affects swing motion.

“Kenny Shiba is a good club fitter. Only took about 3 swings of the club before he knew exactly what I should be hitting. I love my irons. I am hitting my long irons the best I ever have.” – Joe Giron

“I know you can’t buy a good game, but I also know that you need to have the right club. I’m convinced that these clubs will help to lower my handicap.” – Chuck Williams
